CIDAUT and Grupo Antolín have analyzed, through LCA models, the environmental impact of different technical options for the Remaghic Mg recovery system under development, in order to define the pilot plant where validate the developed process.
The higher amount of energy needed for the production of primary Mg ingot in comparison with the demand of the researched process, makes the Remaghic proposal a very interesting option from an environmental point of view. Based on the current findings on the Remaghic process and in accordance with the managed bibliography, the environmental impact of the Remaghic secondary magnesium production is much lower in comparison with the primary magnesium production.
